Junior Data Engineer

Introduction

At Datashift, we are always looking for skilled consultants and right now, we are hiring a Junior Data Engineer.

Have you recently graduated with a master’s degree and eager to have a true impact on clients? Do you like to contribute to a team and tackle complex problems together? You want to design data solutions to deliver value to businesses? You are not afraid to be challenged intellectually and personally?

Your Responsibilities

• Develop you skills to build maintainable data solutions (ETL/Models/Interfaces/pipelines,...)
• Design data solutions, making the trade-off between cost and maintainability
• Work together with Data Scientists and Business Consultants to deliver value to our customers
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in data technology
• Monitor the quality and stability of data solutions

Your Qualifications

Basic:

• Master Degree in Engineering (e.g. civil engineer or commercial engineer, ...)
• Programming knowledge of one or more languages: Python, Java, Scala, …
• Knowledge of SQL
• Notion of cloud platforms like AWS and Azure
• Notion of Docker, Kubernetes etc.
• You agree on the fact that 'containers' aren’t only used in the harbor ;-)
• Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
• Fluent in Dutch and/or French and English

Plus:

• First experience in building data solutions in production environments
• Experience in building RESTful API’s with a framework of your choice (Flask, Django etc.)
• Knowledge of big data technologies like Hadoop, Cassandra and Elasticsearch
• Knowlegde of HTML, Javascript & CSS
• You are familiar with using tools like Apache Spark, Beam and/or Kafka
